OPPI is pleased to invite you to join the experts from CanU in a hands-on one-day workshop. We will examine best practices, tools and technologies as well as urban design techniques that can be utilized in sustainable community building. Mitigation and adaptation strategies will be applied to actual urban and suburban sites currently under development. The goal is to provide a tool kit of ideas for your applied use.

Key Takeaways:

  • Climate resilience as a core design imperative: The workshop reinforces the need to embed climate mitigation and adaptation into the foundational stages of urban and suburban community design.
  • From policy to practice: Participants will gain clarity on how current policies, plans, and emerging technologies can be translated into implementable, real-world design strategies.
  • Place-based decision-making matters: Comparative analysis of urban and suburban sites will demonstrate that effective climate responses must be tailored to local context, constraints, and development conditions.
  • Collaborative design enables better outcomes: Cross-disciplinary, hands-on engagement will prove critical in accelerating informed decision-making and delivering resilient, actionable design solutions.
