If you are currently employed as a planner, looking for your first job, or getting ready to take the Ethics and Professionalism Exam towards obtaining your RPP designation, this course is for you. The world of planning is complex, and it is critical for all practitioners to conduct themselves ethically. Join OPPI for an interactive session that will cover OPPI’s Code and Standards of Practice, the situations that arise in everyday practice, understanding the public interest, the complaints and discipline process, and more. Bring your questions, dilemmas, and concerns, and engage with other planners in a safe space.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the purpose of the Professional Code of Conduct and Standards of Practice;
  • Apply the Code and ethical standards in planning work through real-world examples and case studies;
  • Define the ‘public interest’ and how it relates to planning ethics;
  • Understand the employer and employee responsibilities under the Code; and
  • Understand the complaints and discipline process through OPPI.
