Effective conflict resolution is critical for planners and working professionals, where collaborative planning and decision-making are essential. This training will equip participants with the skills necessary to manage conflict constructively, enhance assertiveness, and improve communication—vital tools for any team. Workshop Objectives:

• Explore how conflicts arise in planning environments due to differing objectives, priorities, or stakeholder interests.
• Recognize the common sources of conflict specific to planning projects (e.g., resource allocation, timelines, roles).
• Delve into the five conflict management styles (Competing, Accommodating, Avoiding, Compromising, Collaborating) with an emphasis on how each can be applied in planning scenarios.
• Learn how to identify your own style and adapt it to different conflict situations within planning teams.

Danielle Blommestyn is a seasoned Conflict Management Practitioner with over a decade of experience in both the public and private sectors. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from Queen’s University and a Post Graduate Certificate in Dispute Resolution from York University. Her career has been marked by her role as the Senior Conflict Management Practitioner for the Department of National Defence, where she has been instrumental in handling complex, high-stakes disputes and facilitating resolutions across a wide range of situations. Her extensive experience in the military and public service context has sharpened her skills in addressing conflicts within large organizations, handling sensitive interpersonal disputes, and managing multi-party processes.

In addition to her work with the Department of National Defence, Danielle engages in private practice, where she offers expert services in mediation, facilitation, conflict coaching, and the design of multi-party conflict resolution processes. Her approach to conflict management is deeply client-centered, focusing on empowering individuals and teams to collaboratively find solutions to their challenges.

Danielle is also a dynamic and highly sought-after Facilitator for Conflict Management workshops and training courses.
